About 8.7 million PreK-12 students in the US have a disability and are served under the Individuals with Disabilities Act or under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. These students have a number of barriers that prevent them from participating fully in CS education. In this webinar we discuss these barriers and how they can be removed to make CS education more accessible and welcoming to these students. Resources including accessible programming environments universal design for learning pedagogies will be discussed. The strategies presented in the webinar can be used in both pre-service and in-service CS education programs to supplement other diversity, equity, and inclusion parts of these programs.
