Developmental Language Disorder: What you need to know about its name, impact, and advocacy

Special Interest Group 1, Language Learning and Education invites ASHA members to attend this live discussion regarding developmental language disorder (DLD). Presenters will:

  • Explain the hallmark features of DLD and its impact on children and adolescents
  • Share the advocacy efforts that resulted in a letter from the Office of Special Education Programs within the US Department of Education and how SLPs can engage in everyday advocacy efforts for their students and clients with DLD
  • Discuss the impact and benefits of using the term DLD in the school setting--- for students as well as the school SLP
  • Respond to questions from the audience

This free, live discussion is hosted by Special Interest Group 1, Language Learning and Education and is open to all ASHA members. It will be recorded. ASHA continuing education units (CEUs) and professional development hours (PDHs) are not being offered for this event.
