NCIL’s Annual Conference is the largest Independent Living event of the year. NCIL regularly hosts over 1,000 people, including grassroots advocates, CIL and SILC leadership, members of Congress, government officials, and representatives from other organizations that work for justice and equity for people with disabilities.

This year’s conference will be NCIL’s first-ever hybrid conference, with options for in-person (July 25-28) and virtual participation (August 1-3).

Join in San Diego and online for AAIC 2022, where the world’s leading basic scientists, clinical researchers, early-career investigators, clinicians and the care research community will share breaking research discoveries that will lead to methods of prevention and treatment and improvements in diagnosis for Alzheimer’s disease.

The three-day Virtual Mini-Conference will highlight select content from the Cleveland conference, and include a recording of the keynote presentation that you can watch on-demand on your own. It will include 25 live presentations in Zoom, designed specifically for an enhanced virtual experience. Organizers want to ensure there is something for everyone, so the concurrent sessions selected for the virtual mini- conference will include content relevant to both new and seasoned professionals, and will also include a primary focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion topics.

Most sessions of the virtual program will be recorded so that you can join live or catch up on presentations via recording whenever it’s convenient. CRCC and RID CEUs will be preapproved for both conferences, and certificates of attendance for other types of CEUs are available.

This annual event is intended to help participants keep pace with the latest in evidence-based treatment and research on neurodevelopmental disabilities and the implications for best practices in prevention, assessment, and treatment. Organizers are excited to offer this inter-disciplinary event, bringing together researchers and self-advocates to share valuable information and personal experience. This panel discussion will focus on mental health disabilities from the employer’s perspective. Top brands, including EY, Independence Health, and Yahoo, will offer insights to other leaders on how to support mental illness in the workplace and eliminate stigma.

In this webinar, the presenters will describe the strengths, struggles, and desired supports of 20 LGBTQ+ adults with I/DD who participated in a collaborative interview project. The webinar will include information on how family members and disability professionals can better support gender and sexual expression for LGBTQ+ people with I/DD and how organizations and agencies can create policies and training that promote gender and sexual self-determination. The presenters are Pauline Bosma, the founder and coordinator of the Rainbow Support Groups of MA, and Oscar E. Hughes, a trans special education teacher and PhD student. The 2022 Gentle Teaching International (GTI) conference is the premiere gathering of people from around the world committed to providing positive and proactive supports. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the conference! This conference presents a unique opportunity to learn about the research, best practices, case studies and lessons learned on creating and sustaining a culture of  support for vulnerable populations in varied environments.

Often people understand the term “racism” and may be able to define it however when we look at the system, some don’t realize how invisible racism exists. Presenter Kyle Amber Clark will open the webinar defining the meaning of invisible racism. Following that brief presentation, Kyle Amber will share examples of what kinds of partnerships are useful to address invisible racism. To dismantle systemic and structural racism requires a collaborative approach involving various stakeholders on individual and group work on an organizational  level. Kyle Amber will have a conversation with others to discuss what the NAD is doing about invisible racism. Howard A. Rosenblum (NAD CEO) will join the panel to discuss the NAD Headquarters’ internal operations and what they’re doing to identify and address invisible racism; Melissa Draganac-Hawk (NAD Outgoing President) to share the NAD Board’s history of addressing racism and the 2020-2022 Priority “Dismantling Racism in the Deaf Community” priority; Jenny Buechner (NAD Incoming President) will join to highlight specific goals the NAD Board has to address racism and the NAD’s commitment.

For ten years Paralyzed Veterans of America has expanded its commitment to spinal cord injury/disease (SCI/D), MS, and ALS patient care through its annual Summit. Summit is an intensive, three-day learning and sharing experience that provides the most updated and vital information, state of the art research, and emerging science, which can be put to immediate use in caring for individuals with spinal cord injury/disease (SCI/D), MS, and ALS. Attendees representing multiple disciplines from the Department of Veterans Affairs as well as private health-care institutions come together network, collaborate, and share knowledge. With its collaborative, holistic team approach to improving patient care, Summit is the one “must attend” conference of the year. Summit will present more than 65 plenary and break out sessions, 30 poster presentations, with up to 21 continuing education credits available.
