Introduction to UDL: Addressing the Variability of All Learners

(2 days)

This introductory course, which is limited to 30 participants, is designed to teach educators about the core concepts and foundations of UDL, practical applications of UDL to lesson design, and how to support flexible, inclusive instruction. We know from experience and neuroscience that individuals learn in varied ways. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) provides educators with a lens to identify and reduce barriers that limit learning. 

Using the UDL framework and its practical guidelines, participants will:

  • Understand and apply the foundational concepts of UDL
  • Design using the UDL design process
  • Understand the structure of the UDL Guidelines
  • Identify UDL in practice

Upon completion of the institute, participants will receive an official CAST certificate. 

Fee: $695 per person. A 10% discount is offered to teams of three or more people from the same institution.

State-of-the-Science on Disability Statistics Conference

Join in-person or online to gain insights to new research and methods in disability data collection, analytical techniques, and advanced statistical analyses of key topics.

ALDAcon 2022

ALDAcon is the annual convention of the Association of Late-Deafened Adults (ALDA). ALDAcon usually begins with a Presidential reception on Wednesday evening and ends with a Farewell Brunch on Sunday morning.  ALDAcon features guest speakers, workshops of interest to late-deafened adults, exhibits by vendors of products and services for people with hearing loss, the presentation of various ALDA awards to deserving individuals, the annual business meeting of ALDA, entertainment after the Friday evening banquet, and the famous Karaoke Party on Saturday evening, where everyone lets their hair down and pretends they have a “golden voice.” ALDAcon provides an opportunity for learning about the problems that late-deafened individuals face, and the strategies that they have developed to overcome the many challenges caused by their hearing loss.  ALDAcon is a place to renew old friendships, to make new ones, to socialize, and to simply HAVE FUN!
