Brain Literacy Training to Empower Educators to Meet Diverse Student Needs

(2 days) RLA Learning and Conference Center850 Cranberry Wood DriveCranberry TownshipPA16066

This innovative Act 48 Continuing Education (CE) training opportunity in brain literacy is offered by the Learning Disabilities Association of America to foster practitioner knowledge, skills, and opinions toward difference/disability through multimedia lectures, small group discussions, and actual student case study exercises.

Teaching changes student brains, but few educators are trained to know how their instruction and/or interventions affect student neurodevelopment. On the other hand, educational neuroscientists know how the brain works, but they typically don’t know much about schools or classroom instruction or intervention. Overcoming this gap has the potential to revolutionize educational practices by helping workshop attendees develop what is termed brain literacy.

He will point out those areas in which the law provides us with strong protections, and those areas where the law helps us less than we might think.
