Educate the Employer
This tip sheet, provided by DeafTEC at the Rochester Institute of Technology, is from the ACE It! series on acing conversations with potential employers by knowing how to advocate for students, inform the employer how to effectively communicate with employees with disabilities, and educate the employer about workplace accommodations. This tip sheet provides guidance on how to dispel the concerns of a potential employer and inform the employer that hiring someone with disabilities is no more difficult or costly than an individual without disabilities. This document addresses misconceptions and concerns related to workplace accommodations, workplace safety, benefits, and confidentiality. Links to additional resources are also included.
