Writing in the Disciplines

This resource from DeafTEC provides an overview of the Writing in the Disciplines workshops offered by Rochester Institute of Technology faculty for high school and community college STEM educators who have deaf students in their classes. "The Writing in the Disciplines workshop includes an introduction to the research that supports the Writing in the Disciplines approach and 'writing to learn,' the role of low stakes writing, developing appropriate writing assignments, and responding to student writing in the context of a STEM classroom." A video about the workshop is also included, which describes the purpose of the workshop, the creation of a writing intensive project for a STEM course, low stakes writing, and other related topics.
